Task Management – How to Decide What Task to Do First

So here is how to decide what to work on first. I’m going to give you two techniques, two different approaches, and I actually use both of them. The first approach is the most intuitive, the most logical. And this is the simple approach of figuring out what’s most valuable. Often times, it’s not easy to weigh two things against each other and figure out which one is going to be more valuable. Sometimes I’ll actually just try to figure out which is more valuable by asking how much money will it be worth. Now I don’t like to idolize money or turn money into God, but sometimes, it’s a great little measuring stick or measuring tool. So let’s say I have two things that I could do. One of them is I know I’ve got a bunch of e-mails that I need to answer, and another one is I know I need to create a sales letter because I’m launching a product. If I look at these two things and ask myself, “Okay, who are the e-mails likely to be from? What’s the value of the e-mails? If I answer all those e-mails, how much money will that actually wind up making?”

Versus if I create this sales letter that’s going to sell a bunch of my products, how much value will that create? And on the e-mails, I might estimate, “You know what? If I answer all those e-mails, it’s probably going to be worth like $50.00, where as if I create this sales letter, it’s going to lead to the sales of thousands or tens of thousands, or probably more; probably hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of products. Clearly, doing this sales letter is more important.”

Self-Hypnosis and Relaxation

Most people have a couple of negative associations with hypnosis, despite the fact most people have never actually been hypnotized before in their life. Usually when you think hypnosis, one of two images comes to mind. Either you’re thinking about some mad villain in a bad thriller hypnotizing the femme fatale, complete with spinning circles and a dissolving background, or you’ve sat in on a hypnosis stage show and watched as the stage performer apparently made the audience act like the biggest of fools.

Real hypnotists laugh at those images and representations, as hypnosis is actually a pretty mundane thing. In fact, hypnotists will often argue that we’re technically in some sort of hypnotic state every hour of our lives. We’re always taking in suggestions and environmental cues, and we’re always operating with plenty of unconscious imprints helping to direct our thoughts and actions. The difference between a general walking around state of being and a therapeutic hypnotic state is generally just a matter of degree. When we go into a proper, deep trance state we are that much more susceptible to outside influence and suggestion.

Five Easy Steps to Move Through Crippling Fear

Overcoming fears and facing situations which appear daunting can be one of the most challenging areas in a person’s life. As we have previously discussed, all people will feel a surge of adrenalin when facing a new area, which as we now know is a part of the human make-up. The adrenalin is there (as we covered in day 2) to help a person become more ‘switched on’ if there was any danger whilst on route to their goal. Facing a fear is entirely the person’s prerogative, and anyone who chooses to face their fears must also be prepared to deal with and accept the consequences as a result of their actions.

The big push

A very old school method of teaching children how to overcome their fear of deep water was to take them to the deepest part of the pool and throw them in with or without their consent. The teacher would then believe that this would be an ‘instant’ cure to the child’s phobia. If the child did respond well to this method, that was good. However, the flip side to this method is that it can send the child back even further to create a deeper fear than before as it may overpower the individual and reverse all the previous successes.

Taking Action to Make Your Dreams Come True – Turning Your Desire Into Reality

All the greatest human achievements began in someone’s head. The truth is – it’s possible to make your own deep desires and dreams come true for yourself. I’ve broken the process down here into the four Ds: Desire, Dream, Design, Do.

It’s very important that all steps are followed. Without desire, you may end up receiving something you didn’t really want. Without a dream, your plan will be ill-informed and ineffectual. Without a design, the action you take will be based purely on your intuition in the moment and that’s if you ever get started in the first place.

And without doing, well, you’d be living in a dream world…

Desire

Getting what you want begins with locating what it is that you really desire. The interesting thing about this process is that you have to locate the thing which makes you feel explosively enthusiastic and pleasurable about. In some ways you can’t actually choose what that thing is, because some deeper part of you has already chosen.

This process is fairly simple but requires a little self-discipline, awareness, and focus.

The Paradox of Happiness

"The pursuit of happiness is a most ridiculous phrase, if you pursue happiness you’ll never find it."
-C. P. Snow

Almost everyone has heard the saying, "you can’t buy happiness." So how do we find something which can’t be purchased or won? The term finding happiness seems somewhat like a paradox. It’s hard to find something if you never even realized you’ve lost it. True lasting happiness comes from within our hearts and souls and is a by-product of a life lived which is inline with our morals and values.

Many times in life we may find that we’re compromising our highest values and morals, the result is often unhappiness. Moreover, even if we’re living true to ourselves, we may still find that we’re unhappy. In such cases, maybe we should look at what sources we’re depending on for our happiness.
