March 28th, 2010 — Self-improvement, positive thinking
Attitude is the most important factor in creating a positive perspective. The first aspect of keeping your outlook positive is realising that the world that we live in is not such a negative one. A few people would argue that reality has it that the world is a negative one, but this view is anti-reality.
It is critical to first acknowledge that there are positive attributes in the world. We must bear this in mind or else we would not be motivated to seek all that is positive and wholesome about our world. Life is merely a mixed package that offers mixed blessings. Therefore, we have to psychologically position ourselves to see and receive the positive energy in our social and physical environment.

What’s so good about developing an attitude of gratitude?
Check out the bottom of this article for the answer…..
Lets get started, here’s how:
Begin each day with a ‘Circle of Gratitude’
Develop the habit of devoting 5 – 10 minutes (at least, more if you can!) to thinking about your ‘circle of gratitude’. Start with your family, your children, your friends, workmates etc, and work your way through them all, really feeling the feelings of gratitude when you think of each one in turn. The more you focus on who and what you are grateful for in this way the more you will be aware of how much you actually do have, this leads on to the next habit….

Many people successfully use meditation to help them relax and reduce stress. When performed properly, meditation can help a person calm their thoughts, which will not only reduce stress but also make it easier to focus more effectively. This is often accomplished by focusing on an object, sound or word during the meditation session. With practice, a person can learn to pull their mind back from thinking random thoughts by focusing on this meditation object.

March 23rd, 2010 — Leadership
Understanding the importance of your communication abilities if you plan on being a leader is important. It’s all about clean communication, and without this beginning foundation you will not be able to flourish for all of your followers.
What exactly is Clean Communication?
The easiest way to help you understand clean communication and how it affects your leadership development is by realizing the components that are not present. Things that come in the form of an attack, shame, blame, upset, anger, manipulation, ridicule, disdain, lies or anything else.
In order to start building communication skills that are acceptable, one must know the difference between conscious and unconscious deliveries. The conscious version is much easier to deal with for most because it won’t have emotional awareness attached to it. This is because the individual is thinking about whether or not it’s a good idea to speak out in anger, attack someone or even manipulate them. When dealing with unconscious delivery you have to understand that the individual is most likely in denial about their intent of communication.

Sometimes the best way to relieve stress and lighten your mood is simply to have a little fun. Games – whether computer based or not – can be an easy way to do this. The trick is though not too choose a game that is too hard, as that will probably only add to your frustration. Pick something simple and relaxing that can also give you a little confidence boost when you master it. A few ideas:

Weight is such a major concern for all of us. Even those who are moderately fit still opt to be extra thin just to feel good about themselves. Do you feel as if life has passed you by? Have you worked your whole life only to find that the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow has no gold in it? The good news is, you are not alone! There are thousands of people just like you. You gave it your all and now you are past what most people think of as your prime and there is nothing to show for the whole damned thing! There is even better news! Age is nothing, attitude is everything!
Oh sure, tell me I can do what I want!
Well, I might not tell you that you can do anything you want. After all, I am assuming you are over the age of about thirty and there are some things that just cannot be. You probably cannot sign up to be and airborne Ranger. You probably cannot do a hundred sit-ups right now. What I will tell you is that there are few limitations on what you can or cannot do except what you create in your own mind.
You have given up your dreams to live the life that you have lived. Now I know this isn’t true for everyone, but I also know it is true for enough of you. You wanted so much. When you were in school you had dreams and then life hit you in the face and the dreams slowly died. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Many people underestimate the power of their minds and often fail to recognize the truth which is that we eventually become what we think we are. An attachment to this principle is – as a man thinks, so he shall be. For this very reason, people decide to go into drugs – they see their lives as hopeless and they launch themselves into a labyrinth of alcoholism, cocaine addiction and hopelessness. What we see today to highlight such actions are many drug rehabs scattered across the country trying to offer their services to help the drug addict break free from the downward road to drugs.
Ever since early inventions, mankind has been esteemed as being the most intelligent of all species, but with the rise of substance abuse rocking the world to pieces one really has to wonder if we have taken a look at our true mental potential. Why are there so many families that have been torn apart because of alcoholism and why is there always an increase in drug trafficking if we are called the most intelligent of species?
